Teaching on the Aran Islands

Teaching on the Aran Islands is a very rewarding experience. Granted, island living may not appeal to everybody but for those of you who visualise teaching in a school that imerses itself in the educational & social attainment of each and every student, with small class sizes, a 100 per cent third-level transfer rate, a proud language and cultural ethos with a view from the classroom of ancient dry stone walls winding down to the Atlantic Ocean, then a teacher career at Coláiste Naomh Eoin may just appeal to you.

That’s what’s on offer to children on the island of Inis Meáin at our post-primary school, Coláiste Naomh Eoin, which has 22 pupils and eight teachers (shared with other islands). Coláiste Naomh Eoin is the heart of the community and a school we are proud off with a reputation that goes from strenght to strenght. This beatiful island is steeped in tradition and culture and people who embrace the tranquil way of life here find it a refreshing alternative to the pressures and hustle and bustle of mainland living.

If you would like the opportunity to teach with us and become a part of our island community ,then send your CV, along with a covering letter to:
